Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plunge outdoor sauna and cold plunge building at dusk

Sauna and Cold Plunge at Home: 3 Ways to Set Up a Hot-and-Cold Routine (2026 Guide)

Quick answer: There are three practical ways to get heat and cold at home. (1) One building with both, such as the Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plunge, which puts a 4–6 person sauna and a cold plunge room in one 8′ × 17′ structure (from $51,700). (2) A sauna plus a standalone cold plunge, such as a SOLENNE Altura or Aurelia sauna with the SOLENNE Privé plunge (from about $17,000 for the pair). (3) A sauna house with a shower, such as the Genevas St. Moritz (from $42,900), with a plunge added if you want full immersion. The right choice depends on space, budget and whether you want everything under one roof.

A sauna followed by cold water is one of the most requested setups we plan for customers in 2026. Search interest in home saunas has grown steadily, and more homeowners now want the hot-and-cold routine they know from spas in their own backyard or wellness room. This guide compares the three ways to do it with the products we sell as an authorized retailer, using the manufacturers’ published sizes, power requirements and prices.

This guide covers equipment and planning, not medical advice. If you have a health condition, check with your doctor before starting a heat or cold routine.

Plan my sauna + plunge

Setup 1: sauna and plunge in one building

This is the most finished option: one structure, delivered as a completed module, with the sauna room and the cold plunge room side by side. Sweaty Yeti builds two versions at the Irontown Modular factory in Spanish Fork, Utah.

  • Sauna Plunge – a 4–6 person cedar sauna with a HUUM Steel electric heater, plus a dedicated cold plunge room. 8′ × 17′, from $51,700.
  • Sauna Plus Barrel Plunge – a larger cedar sauna joined to a barrel cold plunge room, with an optional upgrade that adds heat to the barrel tub. 8′ × 17′, from $55,200.

Why choose it: everything is sheltered, insulated (R-13 walls, R-30 ceiling and floor) and a few steps apart, so the routine works in any season. Trade-offs: it is the largest footprint and the highest budget, and a building this size needs truck access and often a crane or specialized placement equipment.

Setup 2: sauna plus a standalone cold plunge

Pairing a compact sauna with a separate plunge gives you the most layout freedom and the lowest total budget. SOLENNE designs both pieces to work together.

SOLENNE Privé stainless steel and cedar cold plunge
The SOLENNE Privé: a 304 stainless-steel chamber in red cedar with a built-in 1.0 hp chiller, set from 37–59°F.
  • SOLENNE Privé – one-person plunge, 37–59°F with 0.1°C control, UV + ozone water treatment, about 106 gallons of water, indoor or outdoor. $9,999.
  • SOLENNE Altura – outdoor glass-front sauna, 71 × 71 × 77 in, charcoal frame and overhanging roof. $7,999.
  • SOLENNE Aurelia – indoor glass-front sauna, 64 × 48 × 78 in, for a wellness room. $6,999.
SOLENNE Altura outdoor glass-front sauna on a terrace
The SOLENNE Altura outdoor sauna: panoramic glass, two-level timber benches and integrated lighting.

Why choose it: lower cost, free curbside delivery to the lower 48 + DC, and you can place the sauna and plunge exactly where they work best. Trade-offs: the plunge sits in the open unless you shelter it, and you plan two placements instead of one.

Setup 3: a sauna house with a shower

If a rinse between rounds is enough, or you want room to relax as much as the heat itself, a sauna house is the most architectural option. The Genevas St. Moritz combines a 4.4 m² sauna, a 4.4 m² lounge and a 1.6 m² private shower room in 60 mm cross-laminated timber, for up to five people.

Genevas St. Moritz modular outdoor sauna house with lounge and shower
The Genevas St. Moritz: sauna, lounge and a private shower room under one roof.

Add a standalone plunge such as the Privé next to the house if you want full cold immersion. The St. Moritz needs water supply and drainage for the shower in addition to power.

What to plan: space, power, water and delivery

Electrical

Every option here needs a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician. Sweaty Yeti publishes the service size per model:

Model Standard service With mini-split
Sauna Plunge 70 A 80 A
Sauna Plus Barrel Plunge 70 A 80 A
Plunge Max Per plan Per plan

For SOLENNE, voltage, circuit rating and connection method are confirmed in writing for your order before dispatch. Genevas heaters need a dedicated circuit, confirmed in your written quote.

Water and weight

A cold plunge is heavy once full: the Privé’s water alone weighs about 880 lb, so place it on a level, water-tolerant surface that has been checked for the full operating load, and keep the chiller intake and discharge clear. Plan where you will fill and drain it. Plunge rooms and the St. Moritz shower need a proper drainage route.

Foundation and delivery

Outdoor buildings need a stable, level foundation, such as compacted gravel or a concrete pad for Sweaty Yeti and a slab or screw piles built to the Genevas foundation drawing. Check the route for the delivery truck, and for larger buildings a crane or forklift. SOLENNE ships curbside: the Privé arrives crated at about 485 lb, so plan people or equipment to move it into place.

How buying works for each brand

  • Sweaty Yeti: a 10% deposit, credited toward your purchase price, starts a transportation and site review that usually takes 4–5 days. You then receive your final price in writing. The deposit is refunded in full if delivery isn’t feasible or the order is declined.
  • Genevas: a free written quote comes first, covering configuration, delivery, unloading and payment terms. Nothing is charged automatically.
  • SOLENNE: order online or request a quote. We confirm your route and electrical requirements before dispatch; if we can’t deliver to your site, you get a full refund.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a cold plunge next to an outdoor sauna?

Yes. You can buy a building with both rooms, such as the Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plunge, or place a standalone plunge such as the SOLENNE Privé next to an outdoor sauna like the SOLENNE Altura. Plan a level, water-tolerant surface and a dedicated circuit for each.

How cold does a home cold plunge get?

It depends on the model. The SOLENNE Privé covers 37–59°F with a built-in 1.0 hp chiller and 0.1°C control. The Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plunge’s plunge room uses equipment by Plunge, including a chiller.

How much space does a sauna and cold plunge need?

A Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plunge needs an 8′ × 17′ footprint plus access around it. A SOLENNE Altura (71 × 71 in) and Privé (74.8 × 30.7 in) fit on a terrace, with clearance for doors and the chiller.

What electrical service does a sauna and plunge building need?

Sweaty Yeti lists 70 A for the Sauna Plunge and Sauna Plus Barrel Plunge, or 80 A with the optional mini-split. Always have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit for your property.

Can the cold plunge go indoors?

The SOLENNE Privé is specified for indoor and outdoor use. Indoors, make sure the floor is verified for the full operating load (the water alone weighs about 880 lb) and the chiller has free airflow.
