How to choose the right outdoor sauna

1. How many people will use it at once?

For couples and small families, a 4–6 person sauna such as the Sweaty Yeti Sauna or a 5-person Genevas Zermatt is usually enough. For hosting groups, the Sweaty Yeti Sauna Max seats 8–12.

2. Sauna only, or heat and cold together?

If you want a cold plunge next to the sauna, choose a combined cabin so both sit under one roof. See sauna and cold plunge cabins.

3. Do you want a changing room, lounge or shower?

A second room makes the sauna usable without walking back to the house. Options include the Sweaty Yeti Sauna Plus (changing room), Genevas Zermatt (lounge) and Genevas St. Moritz (lounge and shower).

4. What electrical service can your property supply?

Sweaty Yeti sauna models need 60 A or 70 A service as standard, and up to 80 A with a mini-split. Most Genevas electric heaters need a dedicated 240 V circuit. Ask your electrician early; it often decides the model.

5. Can a delivery truck reach the spot?

These are finished modules. Delivery access, and sometimes a crane, is part of every project review.

Preparing your site for an outdoor sauna

  • Foundation: a stable, level base that supports the unit's weight, such as a concrete pad, gravel or screw piles.
  • Electrical: a dedicated circuit sized for the model, installed by a licensed electrician.
  • Water and drainage: needed for showers and cold plunges; every site must drain properly.
  • Access: a clear route for the delivery truck, and space for a crane where required.
  • Permits and HOA: zoning, setbacks and HOA rules vary by city and county; confirm them before ordering.

How ordering works

Sweaty Yeti

Sweaty Yeti models start with a 10% deposit through our secure checkout. The deposit is credited toward the purchase price. Sweaty Yeti then reviews transportation and site access for your address, usually within 4–5 days, and confirms your final price; the remaining 90% is due at that point and materials for your build are ordered once it is received. If delivery to your property is not feasible, or if Sweaty Yeti declines the order, the deposit is refunded in full.

Genevas saunas are sold through a personalized quote. Requesting a quote does not place an order or charge a payment: we confirm the model, options, location and site access first, then send the project price and payment terms.

Are these saunas usable in winter?

Both brands build for year-round outdoor use. Sweaty Yeti requires its winterization procedure wherever freezing is possible, and freeze damage is not covered by its warranty.
