Fire and water bowl spilling into a swimming pool at night

Fire & Water Bowls for Pools: How They Work, Installation & Buying Guide

Quick answer: A fire & water bowl has a gas flame in the center and a water spillway that pours into your pool or a basin. It needs three connections: gas, a water supply (usually from the pool's circulation system) and, for electronic ignition, low-voltage power. Plan it with your pool contractor before the deck is finished.

How a fire & water bowl works

Water is pumped into the bowl and flows out over a spillway into the pool. The flame burns in a separate, dry chamber, so the water and fire never mix. The result is the resort look: fire glowing above a curtain of water.

Installation: who does what

This is not a DIY job. A licensed plumber or gas fitter handles the gas line. Your pool builder handles the water supply and return. An electrician runs low-voltage power if you choose electronic ignition. The installation manuals for match-lit and electronic models are linked on each product page; give them to your contractors early.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a fire & water bowl without a pool?

Yes. The water can spill into a catch basin with its own pump. Plan the basin and pump with a landscape contractor.

Does pool water damage the bowl?

GFRC, powder coat and copper are all made for outdoor water exposure. Keep pool chemistry balanced, as you would for the pool itself.

Can I run just the water or just the fire?

Yes. Many owners run the water during the day and add the flame at night.

Fire & water bowl or fire-only bowl?

Choose fire & water only where the bowl sits at the pool or a basin. Anywhere else, a fire-only bowl is simpler and costs less.
